I’m interested in determining conditions with which computer science and the new technologies for Human-Computer Interaction can help for:

  • The understanding of graphomotor behaviors
  • The evaluation of graphomotor performances
  • The optimization of approaches involved for teaching hand-written communication skills


My research activities deal with the definition, the achievement and the test of algorithms dedicated to :
the automatic enhanced description of handwritten traces


  • The selection of features of description relevant for improving or objectifying human experts’ studies, their decisions or their knowledge about the development of handwritting skills.
  • The inherent spatio-graphic, dynamic, procedural and kinematic aspects of such traces are taken into account thanks to their on-line recording. The paradigms of representation proposed can enhance or reduce the information available for the following processes. They consist of quantitative or/and structural features.


Various applications like characterization of movement patterns, recognition of drawing-procedures, pupils’ productions categorization or writer’s identification are considered.
