- Regarding groups, he works for instance on judgment aggregation, probability aggregation, and welfare economics.
**An** **interdisciplinary career:** He received a PhD in mathematics (2003, University of Oxford) and held positions at Konstanz University (2002-5, post-doc in the Philosophy, Probability & Modelling Group), Maastricht University (2005-8, Assistant Professor in the Economics Faculty), the London School of Economics (2006-11, Nuffield Fellow, later Ludwig Lachmann Fellow), and University of East Anglia (2011-15, Professor of Economics). In 2010 he was awarded (jointly with Christian List) the 5th Social Choice and Welfare Prize of the Society for Social Choice and Welfare.
