Franz Manni

Associate Professor of Biologic Anthropology (PhD, PhD, HDR), National Museum of Natural History, Paris. Lab: UMR 7206, Department ‘Man and Environment’, Musée de l’Homme, National Museum of Natural History, Paris. Franz Manni (b. 1973) conducts multidisciplinary research involving population genetics, demography, and archaeology and teaches linguistics at the Sorbonne University, Paris. He has been co‐working with the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in the frame of projects aimed at probing human history by interpreting linguistic differences in a multidisciplinary perspective. F. Manni also runs a series of academic international conferences and workshops devoted to anthropological topics (7 editions). From 2008 to 2013 he has been the Executive Editor of the Journal Human Biology(Wayne State University Press, Detroit, MI) and, later, Scientific Commissioner at the Musée de l’Homme, Paris where he now is permanent curator of an exhibition space. In this frame, he has been the chief scientific commissioner of the exhibit Piercing (13 March 2019 – 9 March 2020), a project from which the current proposal partially stems.
