Herve Chauris

Overview -------- **Hervé Chauris** (ORCID: 0000-0001-6652-0381) holds since January 2016 a permanent full professor position in Geophysics at Centre de Géosciences common research center of ARMINES and MINES ParisTech. After a PhD in Geophysics at École des Mines de Paris in 2000 on seismic imaging, he joined the R&D imaging centre at Shell in the Netherlands. His 5 year experience within the industry was very useful to better understand how the industry works, especially in a R&D environment, and how academic and industrial partners could work together and benefit from each others. He then joined Centre de Géosciences at MINES ParisTech in 2005 as assistant professor. He has been the leader of the geophysical team since 2008, one of the six teams within the Geosciences center. Three junior scientists have been recruited since 2009. Now the team is composed of 4 permanent staff, of one assistant for administrative support and of about 12 PhD students. Hervé Chauris defended his HDR (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) in 2010 on the analysis of local coherency in seismic data for subsurface imaging, at Paris VI (UPMC). He played an important role in renewing the themes developed within the team: they have largely evolved since 2005, with the introduction of wave-equation based imaging techniques, uncertainties and more recently geomechanical aspects. --- Pr.
