Les travaux scientifiques de Jean-Michel Matray portent sur les transferts de solutés et analogues naturels de radionucléides, dans les hydrosystèmes continentaux majoritairement profonds. ***\*\*\* Transfert d’analogues naturels et de radionucléides en milieu continental :***
\- Transferts dans aquitards (roches argileuses COx, OPA, Toar…). Approche expérimentale et modélisation couplée pour validation des calculs de performance d’un stockage géologique. Modélisation mobilité des traceurs naturels (Cl, Cs, Sr) analogues des radionucléides (RN) ;
\- Participation au projet ANR TAPPS sur transferts dans la pile sédimentaire située à proximité du projet de centre industriel de stockage géologique (Cigéo) de déchets radioactifs de Haute at Moyenne activité à vie longue (HA-MAVL).

\- Recherches sur la géothermie Basse enthalpie du BP avec participation à deux programmes de recherche européens.

The scientific work of Jean-Michel Matray focuses on the transfer of solutes and natural analogues of radionuclides, in mainly deep continental hydrosystems. **Themes explored / Research activities**
A) Transfer of natural analogues and radionuclides in the continental environment:
\- Transfers in aquitards (clay rocks COx, OPA, Toar…). Experimental approach and coupled modeling for validation of the performance calculations of a geological repository. Mobility modeling of natural tracers (Cl, Cs, Sr) analogues of radionuclides (RN);
\- Participation in the ANR TAPPS project on transfers in the sedimentary pile located near the project for an industrial geological storage center (Cigeo) for high and medium level long-lived radioactive waste (HA-MAVL).
B) Studies and research on potential radioactive waste storage sites
\- Preliminary geological reconnaissance of the Andra sites in Gard, Vienne and the East with the performance of numerous geochemical studies and summaries on the 3 sites;
\- Scientific project management for the excavation of access shafts at Andra's Meuse/Haute-Marne Laboratory;
\- Study of the geothermal potential at Cigeo;
C) Transfer in deep reservoirs and aquifers:
\- Diagenesis of sedimentary basin reservoirs (Paris, Pannonian, North Sea, Gulf of Guinea);
\- Validation of the flow model of the geothermal Dogger of the center of the Paris Basin (BP);
\- Research on low enthalpy geothermal energy at BP with participation in two European research programs.
D) Studies in underground research laboratories in indurated clay rock
\- Study of the transport and retention properties in specific (Mont Terri - IRSN Delegate to the International Consortium since 2002) or generic (Tournemire) clayey rocks of a HA-MAVL repository;
\- Development of software for the pre-processing and analysis of chronicles measured by sensors in the underground laboratory.
