Présentation

Marc Fermaud is Agronomist-Engineer and PhD-Doctor graduated from Montpellier-Sup-Agro and AgroParisTech, respectively (two major French National Institutes of Further Education in Agricultural Science). His PhD thesis in 1990 unveiled the impact of the key pest moth (*Lobesia botrana*) in grapevines on the development of gray mold due to the major fungal pathogen *Botrytis cinerea*. From 1986 onwards, he has been employed as scientist researcher at INRA/INRAE in Bordeaux. In 1991-1992, at Lincoln University, New Zealand, his post-doctoral position focused on the epidemiology of *Botrytis cinerea* in kiwifruit orchards in interaction with the endemic insect vector *Thrips obscuratus*. In France and abroad, various scientific collaborations are developed by past or more recent links with different members of the APS « American Phytopathological Society », IOBC/WPRS « Int Org against Biological and Integrated Pest animals and plants » and AFPP « French association for plant protection ». The main centers of interest concern plant fungal disease epidemiology, pathogen-insect interactions, population biology of infectious fungal diseases of grapevine, biocontrol in plant pathology, IPM development including DSS (decision support systems) and epidemiological disease risk indicators. Finally his teaching activities are, for engineers / Master students, at Bordeaux Agro Sciences (ex ENITAB) as well as at the University of Bordeaux (ISVV).
