Présentation

Michael Saidani is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, within the Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering Department, under the supervision of Prof. Harrison Kim. It aims to advance the sustainable design, usage and end-of-life of complex products, in close industrial collaboration with John Deere, Brunswick, and the REMADE Institute. His research work deals particularly with the implementation of circular economy principles. It seeks to measure, improve and monitor the circularity and sustainable performance of industrial systems, including technical products and associated services. Michael Saidani received his PhD in industrial engineering in 2018 from CentraleSupélec, at the University of Paris-Saclay, under the supervision of Prof. Bernard Yannou. During his thesis, he received a Fulbright grant to pursue his research at the University of California-Davis, within the Industrial Ecology Department, under the supervision of Prof. Alissa Kendall. Michael is member of the Design Society and has been elected on the EcoSD network board of directors as young researchers' representative from 2016 to 2018. Also, in parallel of his research projects, he is involved in teaching assignments including mechanical engineering and innovation tutorial classes, eco-design course, and internships supervision. Michael has a scientific background in mechanical engineering: he received his formation from the “Grande Ecole” ENS Cachan where he passed, in 2014 the “Agregation” of engineering sciences, specialized in mechanical engineering. Then, he pursued his education at another top-tier French School, Ecole Centrale Paris, where he completed a research master's degree in design engineering and management in 2015 (graduated first in this class). Particularly, he successfully initiated, developed and implemented an eco-design approach on the industrial ground during an internship in Switzerland at Liebherr Machines Bulle.
