Maxime Lefrançois is Associate Professor in the [Henri Fayol institute](https://www.mines-stetienne.fr/recherche/centres-et-departements/institut-henri-fayol/) of [École des Mines de Saint-Étienne](https://www.mines-stetienne.fr/), one of the engineerings schools of [Institut Mines Télécom](https://www.imt.fr/), France, and a member of Laboratoire [LIMOS - UMR CNRS 6158](https://limos.fr/). Maxime is a former student of the [École Normale Supérieure de Cachan](https://www.ens-cachan.fr/), and prepared and passed the Agrégation exam in Mechanics in 2008. He received a Master degree from [Grenoble INP](https://www.grenoble-inp.fr/) in Signal Processing in 2009, another from [Université Grenoble 2](https://www.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/) in Computer Science in 2010, and obtained his Ph.D. in 2014 from [Université Côte d'Azur](https://univ-cotedazur.fr/) on the topic of knowledge representation and reasoning for the Meaning-Text linguistic theory. All his research aims at answering the general question: "How knowledge engineering can support semantic interoperability in cyber-physical systems: from the Internet of Things to data spaces?", with three main research directions: methodologies and technologies for knowledge engineering, semantic interoperability for the Internet of Things, and semantic interoperability in data spaces. Notably, he contributed to the OGC&W3C [Semantic Sensor Network standard ontology](https://www.w3.org/TR/vocab-ssn/), and contributes to the [ETSI SmartM2M Smart Applications REFerence ontology](https://saref.etsi.org/).
