Nicolas Tixier is an architect, DR and HDR. He is a Professor of theory and design at The National School of Architecture of Grenoble and also teaches at Annecy Alpes School of Fine Art and the Grenoble Institute of Urbanism. He is a researcher at the CRESSON Laboratory (UMR AAU) and a member of the International Ambiances Network. He is a founding member of the BazarUrbain collective (winner of the Young French Urban Designers Award in 2007). From 2003 to 2010 he was responsible for scientific missions at the Bureau of Architectural, Urban and Landscape Research at the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. Since 2009 to 2022, he has been president of the Grenoble Cinematheque. Since 2018, he has been director of the CRESSON and adjunct director of the UMR *Ambiances, Architectures, Urbanités.* The different areas addressed by my research, projects and teaching experiences question what can be called the public sphere, which should not be understood as a thing, but as a composition, theatre of operation, and as a society (I. Joseph). Regarding my work on urban and territorial condition, I work with the open field of ecology (ecology of perception, social ecology, environmental ecology) and the prospective and retrospective field of urban project (urban design, urban history). I do so by developing methodological equipment, both for the approach of a site and for the production and the distribution of representations, or for the enunciation of possible futures
