Présentation

Pascal Besnard received the Ph.D. degree in Physics from ENSSAT, University of Rennes I, Rennes, France, in 1991. He spent one year as postdoctoral researcher at the Ontario Lightwave and Laser Research Center, Toronto, ON, Canada. He then moved to ENSSAT, Lannion, France, where he is a Professor. He was at the head of the optronics department of ENSSAT during 6 years and at the head of the Laser Physics Group from 2000 to 2012. Since 2012 he is at the head of the CNRS Institut Foton. His principal research interests include laser physics, optical telecommunication, sensors. He was deputy director of ENSSAT from 2009 to 2019. His current research activities concerns the study of and semiconductor or fiber lasers for optical telecommunication or sensors applications, particularly in terms of noise and coherence, synchronization, Q-switch and mode-locking dynamics, optical injection, optical feedback. The main projetcs are more precisely: Detection at sub-femtowatt optical power level using optical injection Study and realizations of MultiStokes Brillouin Fiber lasers towards less noisy sources Study and realizations of highly coherent blue lasers Hyperspectral imaging in the mid-infrared applications for living sciences
