Petra Dotlačilová holds a PhD in Dance Studies from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (2016), focused on the works of Gasparo Angiolini and Jean-Georges Noverre, as well as a PhD in Theatre Studies from Stockholm University, with the title Costume in the Time of Reforms: Louis-René Boquet Designing Eighteenth-Century Ballet and Opera (2020). In her research, she specialises in European dance history and theatrical costumes from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries. She participated in the research projects ‘Performing Premodernity’ at Stockholm University and ‘Ritual Design on the Ballet Stage (1650–1760)’ at the University of Leipzig. Currently, she is working on a postdoc research project ‘The Fabrication of Performance: Processes and Politics of Costume-Making in the 18th Century’, funded by the Swedish Research Council (2021-2024) and conducted in collaboration with the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles.
Petra Dotlačilová est docteure en études de danse de l'Académie des arts du spectacle à Prague (2016) et en études de théâtre de l'Université de Stockholm (2020). Dans ses recherches elle s’intéresse à la danse théâtrale et aux costumes de scène de XVIIe et XVIIIe siècle en Europe. Plus spécifiquement, elle examine les propriétés esthétiques et matérielles des costumes, les transferts internationaux de costume design et les relations entre les habits et les pratiques corporelles de scène.
Elle fait partie de projet de recherche Performing Premodernity à l'Université de Stockholm (http://performingpremodernity.com), reliant un groupe interdisciplinaire composé de chercheurs universitaires et artistiques internationaux consacrés à l'étude des idéaux, pratiques et conditions musicaux et théâtraux entre 1760 et 1815. Entre 2015 et 2017 elle a participé au projet de recherche "Ritual design on the ballet stage: Constructions de la culture folklorique dans la danse théâtrale européenne (1650–1760)" à l'Université de Leipzig sous la direction de Dr. Hanna Walsdorf (http://research.uni-leipzig.de/havewa/en/index.php).
Elle fait partie de l’équipe d’intervenants du séminaire de recherche ThéPARis.
Au sein de ces projets, elle a co-organisée plusieurs workshops autour le costume de scène (‘Body Dance Costume’ à Leipzig, 2016, ‘Costume & Light’ à Confidencen Theatre, Stockholm, 2017) et collaboré à la restitution des costumes historiques pour les spectacles de Pygmalion (2015, Český Krumlov, Stockholm/Riddarhuset), et de Le devin du village (2019, Stockholm/Confidencen).
