A professor of French linguistics, Philippe Caron is currently Emeritus at the University of Poitiers, France. His main concern is presently the emergence of contemporary French towards 1630 but one of his main programs is devoted to the restitution of the French pronunciation by 1700, namely eloquence and verse. He is actually hired for his expertise by actors and singers who wish to perform their repertoire in an historically trustworthy way.
