Victoria Delolme-Sabatier

Victoria Delolme-Sabatier is a PhD student at Paul Valéry University. She has been teaching French as a foreign language at Aichi Prefectural University in Japan as a full-time lecturer since 2023. Before moving to Japan, she lived and taught for ten months in Vietnam and a year in Thailand. Continuing her master’s thesis subject at Bordeaux Montaigne University, where she used to study, she researched differentiated and adaptive teaching for 2 years on her own. Since 2025, she joined the LHUMAIN research laboratory.

She has been implementing differentiated teaching for 7 years and has published two articles about it. In 2025, she received the 2024 presentation award from the Japanese Society for French Didactics for her work focusing on translation and interpretation activities in a French as a foreign language class. An article about it will be released in 2026.

Her research goal is now to identify the possible obstacles that may make differentiated teaching difficult in a Japanese university context. The notions of practice, habits and representations for both students and teachers are at the center of her research.

She is used to learning languages with different writing systems and that is the reason why she is looking forward to conducting further research directly with Japanese speakers.
