### **Engineer in animal science and agroecology** *Supporting agroecological transition by construction, development and valorisation of participatory research* ### **Background** since 2020 french National Research Institute for agriculture, Food and Environement 1997-2019 French National Institute for Agricultural Research 1999 MSc: Master of Science (agronomy) 1995-1997 Consulting Engineer at the chamber of agriculture in Haute-Marne 1993 Master’s Degree in Engineering ### **Contribute to the challenge of the transition from livestock farming** Today, environmental and social issues have a major impact on the perception of livestock by European consumers/citizens. My objectives are to produce knowledge and operational tools or methods to support the agro-ecological transition of livestock systems. I would like to develop my research work in a broad and participatory framework. Indeed, the necessary transformation of livestock systems requires more than ever a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, in particular by redesigning the role of livestock in the agroecological transition, the circular economy and the development of mixed agriculture. ### **Co-designing LFS based on agroecological principles** • Implementation and co-animation of multi-partners research projects (European, regional and local projects: H2020, PSDR, CASDAR ...) to design and assess agroecological practices in livestock farming. • Development, support and co-facilitation of a multi-stakeholder research and development project: EIP-AGRI project “DIAL” for Local Agroecological Innovations Network. • Interdisciplinary approach of sociotechnical system changes: analysis of feed self-sufficient farms. ### **Producing knowledge about analyse & assessment of LFS** • Impact of improving feed self-sufficiency on farm performance. Farmers ‘interviews and database analysis to identify different agroecological levers for the transition. French Research project as *ATA-RI, AUTELO, TATA\_BOX.* • Role of genetic diversity in the development of agroecological systems. Case study of dairy cattle herds combining two breeds; Analysis of the breeders & farmers preferences new genetic traits to improve balanced breeding goals for agro-ecological resilience (Smarter project H2020). • Changes in farming practices to comply with the requirements of the PDO label. • Evaluation of the feeding of herbivores for the development of garssland farming systems. ### **Handing down knowledge about LFS in agroecological transition** • Elaboration of a teaching module (80hours) on agroecology: “Livestock Territory Transition” at INP-ENSAT the Engineering Faculty of Life Sciences, part of the TOULOUSE INP (National Polytechnic Institute), founder member of the Federal University of Toulouse. • Trainee student management • Participation to the Exchanges between students, researchers, professors (France-Brazil) in the CAFES-COFECUB project PAMPA. ### **Other work points** Since 2018: secretary of the Livestock Farming System commission of the European Federation for Animal Science (EAAP) Since 2017: member of the INRAE cattle production committee Since 2016: member at the scientific council of INRAE-SAD department ### **Miscellanious** - French-52 *y.o.* - married - two children - *French – English - Spanish* - Sailing since more 10 years: cruise with 5-6 members crew; nautical licence and skipper - Politics activities at local level and national level for agriculture topics - Hobbies: amateur theatre actor, wine taster, cook lover, globe-trotter, and much more…
