Wim VAN WASSENHOVE is a research engineer at MINES Paristech at the Centre for Risk and Crisis Research. He is an engineer in life sciences with a PhD in bio industrial engineering. His PhD subject was the development of a learning from experience method for the management of sanitary alerts.
He is actually directing the advanced master program ‘Maitrise des Risques Industriels” (Management of Industrial Risks) at MINES Paristech. He is responsible for building an up to date study program for post-engineer students, to form them to the latest advanced risk techniques. He also is in close collaboration with the industry to identify the needs and the emergent issues about risk management on the field. His research themes are learning from experience, accident analysis methods and psychosocial risks.
He supports and he is involved in projects on learning from experience, safety performance indicators and accident analysis for companies such as GDF Suez, TOTAL, Saint Gobain, ...
Before, he has worked at the Belgian Federation of Food Industry as a policy adviser and in a private hospital as a quality and risk manager.
He is the co-author of two books on learning from experience and risks at Editions Tec & Doc Lavoisier: « Retour d'expérience et prévention des risques, principes et Méthodes » and « Retour d'expérience et maitrise des risques, pratiques et méthodes de mise en œuvre ». He has published in the international journals of Risk Research and International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management and Safety Science.
His research domain is actually "HSE professionalism and professionalisation".
