Bio

Adrien Pelat is full Professor at Le Mans University, France, in the field of vibro-acoustics. He is particularly interested in the propagation of elastic waves in architected materials for the control of vibro-acoustical features of mechanical structures. It includes vibration and sound radiation mitigation by using the Acoustic Black Hole effect; filtering techniques based on periodic, locally resonant as well as lattice or graded materials and the use of dynamical non-linearities. It involves both wave based theoretical approaches, numerical modeling as well as experimental evidence on practical demonstrators to analyse the application potential. He manages both academic and industrial research programs, including PhD as well as post-doc supervisions. His teaching activities are carried out at ENSIM (School of engineering of Le Mans University) in the fields of vibratory and acoustic engineering, with related numerical modeling tools and experimental methods. He is responsible for the Vibro-Acoustic engineer degree (about 60 students/year) and head of the industrial relations department at ENSIM. He has been involved in the coordination of the French scientific community in vibration-acoustics notably as leader of the vibro-acoustics and noise group and member of the Board of the French Acoustical Society for the period 2019-2023. He regularly is a member of scientific or organizing committees for events such as the French Congress of Acoustics 2016, Forum Acousticum 2020 or Resonance 2023. He chaired around 15 technical sessions at French and international congresses, and served as President of the Inter-Noise 2024 congress held in Nantes, France.
