Presentation
Rodrigo Rivera Tinoco is Assistant Professor (Chargé de recherche) at the Center for Energy efficiency of Systems (CES), ARMINES/MINES ParisTech - PSL. He has a background on Chemical Engineering, from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico (ESIQIE - IPN), consolidated by a Master's degree on Chemical Engineering at Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris (France) and a PhD on Process Engineering at MINES ParisTech (France). For this last, he studied the phenomena of Water Electrolysis at High Temperature and the technology roadmap needed to reach lower hydrogen produciton costs.
He worked for the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN, Amsterdam) on the topics of Learning curves for energy technologies (Fuel cells, Lithium batteries, Offshore wind turbines) and Electricity generation scenarios for the EU 2050. Interested on the pathway from R&D innovation towards real markets, he worked as Director of Strategic Development (LED technology export and produciton) of LUUMS (Netherlands/France/Mexico) until 2013.
Since 2014, he joined the CES and works on the topic of enhanced mass transfer and multipurpose unitary operations. This novel approach is particulary leading towards enchanced absorption technologies, advanced absorption heat-pump cycles, circular economy of CO2 and pollutants (air and fumes). Moreover, the macro-analysis of processes considered in the research work has enabled highlighting of hydrogen production efficiency improvements, as well as advanced multi-program process modeling towards exergetic efficiency optimisation.
National and international experience has been acquired on project management and execution throughout several public and private partnerships. Projects carried out involve work with the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche), G8-ANR, ADEME (Agence de l’environnement et de la maîtrise de l’énergie), EU-H2020, and companies.
