- Experimental observation of phenomena occuring during arc welding operation such as: temperature, arc voltage, current welding, weld pool imaging ... and post operation: microstructure, distortions and residual stresses. Effect of process parameters on temperature field, beld bead geometry, final microstructures, distortions and residual stresses.
- modelling and simulation: heat transfers (temperature field, estimation of heat source due to electric arc ...), solid mechanics (effect of elastoplactic models on residual stresses, distortions ...), metallurgical transformations (effect on residual stresses, hardness), fluid mechanics (motion of molten metal in weld pool, effect of welding current, chemical composition of weld pool shape ..).
