- Centre Procédés, Énergies Renouvelables, Systèmes Énergétiques (PERSEE)
Présentation
George Kariniotakis received his Engineering and M.Sc. degrees from Greece in 1990 and 1992 respectively. He received his PhD degree from Ecole des Mines de Paris in 1996. He is currently Distinguished Professor at Mines Paris – PSL (Paris Science Letters University). He is head of the Renewable Energies and Smart Energy Systems Group (ERSEI) at Center PERSEE of Mines Paris. He is the author of over 350 scientific publications in scientific journals and conferences. He has been involved as participant or coordinator in more than 50 R&D projects in the fields of renewable energies and smart-grids. In particular, he has coordinated 4 major EU projects in the field of wind forecasting and integration: Anemos (FP5), Anemos.plus (FP6), SafeWind (FP7) as well as the Smart4RES (H2020) project on renewable energy sources (RES) forecasting and integration. His scientific interests include forecasting, RES integration, modelling, management and planning of power systems, artificial intelligence and data science for energy among others. His research into AI for energy dates to the early '90s, when he worked on Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic for wind power forecasting. A paper published in 1996 in the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion is probably the first journal paper where AI was applied to the field of renewable energies. He is Senior Member of IEEE and member of several expert groups like ETIP SNET, EERA Joint Programme Smart Grids, the European Academy of Wind Energy, the National CIRED committee, the "Conseil d'Administration" and the Conseil Scientifique of Think SmartGrids, the "Conseil d'Administration" of CapEnergies and others.Distinguished Professor, MINES Paris, PSL - Centre PERSEE
Head of Renewable Energies & Smart Energy Systems Group (ERSEI)
Directeur de recherche de classe exceptionnelle, MINES Paris, PSL - Centre PERSEE.
Resp. Groupe Énergies Renouvelables & Systèmes Énergétiques Intelligents (ERSEI).
