Marjan Mashkour
Présentation
Je suis archéozoologue avec plus de trente ans d'expérience dans l'étude des assemblages fauniques du Plateau iranien, du sud de l'Asie centrale, de la Péninsule arabique et de la vallée de l'Indus. Adoptant une perspective diachronique, mes recherches portent sur l'évolution de la biodiversité depuis la fin du Pléistocène et sur la transformation des économies de subsistance, en particulier pendant l'Holocène. Mon approche analytique combine l'anatomie comparée, la morphométrie et les analyses isotopiques, complétées par des collaborations à long terme avec des paléogénéticiens. Plus précisément, j'étudie les interactions entre les humains et les animaux et la manière dont les stratégies de subsistance se sont adaptées aux environnements arides, en accordant une attention particulière à l'émergence et au développement du pastoralisme au sein des communautés sédentaires et nomades. Les processus de néolithisation et leur diffusion vers l'est au-delà des montagnes du Zagros constituent l'un des thèmes centraux de mes recherches. Parallèlement, je m'intéresse tout autant aux périodes historiques ultérieures, qui fournissent des informations précieuses sur la complexité sociale croissante des communautés globalisées et diversifiées, ainsi que sur les impacts plus tangibles de l'activité humaine sur les ressources naturelles et la biodiversité.
Au cours des 25 dernières années, j'ai formé plusieurs étudiants en Iran, en France, en Allemagne et au Pakistan à la bioarchéologie.
De 2019 à 2024, j'ai occupé pendant six ans le poste de codirecteur du groupe de recherche en archéozoologie et archéobotanique du CNRS (UMR 7209) au Muséum national d'histoire naturelle de Paris (https://www.mnhn.fr/) et je suis actuellement membre du comité international de l'ICAZ.
